Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger willed himself into being three separate legends. The Austrian Oak first conquered bodybuilding, winning Mr. Universe at twenty and Mr. Olympia seven times, then reinvented himself as a Hollywood action icon through Conan the Barbarian, The Terminator and its sequels, Predator, Total Recall and True Lies, before turning to politics and serving as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011. Few people have ever climbed so many mountains from such an improbable start.

His Sun in Leo is the lion at full strength, the born king of the castle whose charisma made him impossible not to notice, and that Sun sits in the first house, the most powerful solar placement of all: he was quite literally born to be seen, a star simply by being himself. His Capricorn Moon supplied the other half of the story, the stoic, dutiful, unspoiled inner discipline that grew up fast and out-worked everyone, forever bound to relentless routine (his Moon in the sixth house). His Cancer Ascendant softened the mask with a nurturing, familial warmth. Married to Maria Shriver from 1986, his private life carried its own well-documented turbulence. Still, the self-made ascent remains extraordinary.
