Bob Marley

Bob Marley carried a whole people's voice in his throat, and his chart glows with the reason why. His Sun in Aquarius, the sign born to shine not on a solo throne but among the tribe and the masses of humanity, sits in the third house of the word and the message: a communicator whose ego finds its light in speaking for the collective. From Nine Mile in Jamaica he formed the Wailers with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer in the early 1960s, and turned reggae into a global language of liberation, from One Love to No Woman No Cry to the triumphant Exodus. Aquarius is the visionary and the reformer, and Marley used his platform for Pan-Africanism, social reform, and Rastafari faith. His Moon in Scorpio in the twelfth house is the deepest water of all: an emotional volcano lived at the threshold of the collective unconscious, the phoenix rising and rising, a psyche fused with something far larger than himself and pouring it out as music that felt like prayer. Rising Sagittarius gave him the mask of the wandering preacher-philosopher, the jolly explorer with a message for the whole world. He survived an assassination attempt in 1976 and died young in 1981, yet Legend keeps his flame burning across generations.
