Christian Bale

Christian Bale is the actor who disappears, the chameleon who reshapes his very body to become someone else, and there is something wonderfully Aquarian in that. His Sun in Aquarius is the sign that shines not on a solo throne but through and for the collective, the outside-the-box mind drawn to the strange, the fringe, the futuristic. Aquarius is the shape-shifter of the zodiac, forever refusing to be pinned down as a single fixed self, and Bale has poured that restlessness into role after unrecognisable role: the gaunt insomniac of The Machinist, the polished monster of American Psycho, a caped hero for the masses in the Dark Knight trilogy, and an uncanny Dick Cheney. Born in Wales to English parents, he broke through at thirteen in Empire of the Sun and never stopped transforming.

Yet beneath that ever-changing Aquarian surface sits a Moon exalted in Taurus, one of the happiest, most grounded places a Moon can be. This is the steadfast Venusian earth that anchors a life: loyal, devoted, patient, drawn to security and the pleasures of the five senses. It is the quiet ballast that lets him vanish so completely into each part and still come home to himself. Wild reinvention above, immovable roots below: the paradox that makes his craft possible.
