Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey did not wait for permission to conquer pop music, and her chart explains the sheer nerve of it. Her Sun blazes in Aries, the pioneer-warrior in the very first sign of the zodiac, a double leader who casts light and leaves a lasting mark wherever she goes. This is the self-starter who gets back on the saddle no matter what, and it shows: she became the first artist to send her opening five singles to number one, then simply refused to leave the summit for eleven straight years.

Born on the twenty-seventh of March, 1969, the Songbird Supreme rose in 1990 and gave the world Vision of Love, Hero, Fantasy, and an eternal Christmas anthem. Yet behind the warrior lives a tender soul, for her Moon sits in Cancer, its own home, a double whammy Moon, the mother-goddess of feeling, notoriously psychic and ruled by the tides. Placed in the third house of words and melody, it pours all that raw emotion straight into song.

Her Taurus Ascendant lent the Venusian, regal, luxury-loving presence and that unmistakable voice. Warrior and water-goddess in one, Mariah turned five octaves into an empire.
