Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson shines with a Capricorn Sun, the old-soul climber whose whole identity organises around craft, reputation and the slow ascent to the top of the ladder. Born in Peekskill, New York, in 1956 and raised in Sydney from the age of twelve, he trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art before breaking through as Max Rockatansky in Mad Max and Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon films. That Sun sits in the sixth house of work and duty, the Lion King who must shine through relentless labour, and his discipline paid out in gold: directing, producing and starring in Braveheart in 1995, he took home Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture, then returned decades later with Hacksaw Ridge.

His Moon in Libra is a beautiful, Venusian luminary that seeks peace through harmony and an in-built radar for beauty, seated in the fourth house where the Moon is happiest, rooting his heart in home and lineage. His Cancer Ascendant wears the crab's guarded shell, the mask of one who feels everything. That same sensitivity has a shadow: leaked remarks and legal troubles gravely damaged his standing before his later comeback.
