Mystic Meg

Mystic Meg, born Margaret Anne Lake, became the face of foretelling in Britain, so much so that "I'm not Mystic Meg" entered the language as a way to dodge questions about the future. Of Romani descent and raised in a terraced house in Accrington, she learned astrology at her grandmother's knee, read English at Leeds, then rose through the News of the World before becoming its star astrologer. From 1994 she captivated the nation with her weekly forty-five-second predictions on the National Lottery Live, crystal ball and all, and later bred racehorses with celestial names like Astrocharm and Astronova.
