Thomas Matthew Crooks committed an act of political violence: on 13 July 2024, from a rooftop near Butler, Pennsylvania, he fired a rifle at a campaign rally, wounding Donald Trump and two attendees and killing a bystander, Corey Comperatore, before he was shot dead by the Secret Service.
