Benjamin Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu, born on the 21st of October 1949 in Tel Aviv, is the longest-serving prime minister in Israel's history, leading the Likud party across terms in 1996 to 1999, 2009 to 2021, and again from December 2022. His path ran through the Sayeret Matkal special forces, MIT, the Boston Consulting Group and the United Nations before politics, and his career has been as contested as it has been long: reforms that reshaped the Israeli economy, decades of settlement expansion deemed illegal under international law, a 2019 indictment on bribery, fraud and breach of trust, and criticism for the intelligence failure preceding the Hamas attack of the 7th of October 2023.
