Chris Cornell, born on the twentieth of July, 1964, carried a Cancer Sun, the most emotional light in the zodiac, the father placed in the sign of the mother, here to shine as a nurturer regardless of gender. The crab lives outside its shell and then retreats within, and you can hear both movements in his voice: the huge exposed heart, then the guarding of something soft and squishy inside. He gave grunge its aching soul as the frontman and primary lyricist of Soundgarden and Audioslave, founded Temple of the Dog to mourn a lost friend, and stretched a nearly four-octave range across four solo albums and a Bond theme.
