Dane Rudhyar

Dane Rudhyar was a pioneer among pioneers, and his chart says as much before a single biography does. Sun in Aries, the ace position, the double leader who gets up and gets back on the saddle no matter what the universe throws down. Disabled at twelve by illness and surgery, he simply turned that Aries fire inward toward music and mind, graduating from the Sorbonne at sixteen. He cast light and left a lasting mark wherever he went, a true self-starter who imagined himself a seed man of a coming age.

That Sun sat in the third house of communication and self-effort, and few have made more of it: a modernist composer whose polytonal work premiered in New York in 1917, then an author who turned out books by the armful. His Moon in Aquarius fused his psyche with the tribe of humanity, the crazy-genius wave that breaks the old sandcastle so a new one can rise. Wedding astrology to Jungian depth psychology, he birthed humanistic and later transpersonal astrology.
