David Bowie

David Bowie was the alien who chose Earth for an avatar, and what an avatar he built. Born David Robert Jones in 1947, he was the boy who studied art, music and design and then spent years releasing singles nobody bought, before "Space Oddity" opened the airlock in 1969. With an Aquarius Ascendant, he could only ever meet the world as the quirky black sheep among black sheep, the one arriving in future colours; Ziggy Stardust, the Thin White Duke and the plastic-soul crooner of "Fame" were all masks worn by a mind wired for revolution and reinvention.

Underneath the fringe glamour sits a Capricorn Sun, an old-soul climber who treats a career as a slow, disciplined ascent to the top rung, which is exactly how he stacked "Heroes", the Berlin Trilogy, Let's Dance and eleven number-one albums. And his Moon in Leo is the born actor, king and queen at once, feeling everything through performance and giving us goosebumps from the stage.

He died in 2016, two days after his sixty-ninth birthday and the release of Blackstar. Even his ending, he choreographed as art.
