carried an idea large enough to reshape how humanity understood its own world, and that is a very Aquarian kind of greatness. Born around 1480 into minor Portuguese nobility, he shone not for himself but for the collective, for the tribe of navigators and merchants and kings who dreamed of reaching the Spice Islands by sailing west. Gaia calls the Aquarian Sun the one who shines among humanity, the visionary who thinks outside the box and can change the lives of millions; Magellan's obsession was exactly such a thing, a westward passage nobody believed existed. When King Manuel of Portugal refused him, he took the same audacious plan to Charles I of Spain, who made him an admiral and gave him the five-ship Armada of Molucca in 1518. What drove him through storms, mutinies and the treacherous strait that now bears his name was his Moon in Scorpio, the emotional volcano beneath a calm surface, all or nothing, going deep, refusing to turn back. He renamed the vast ocean Pacifico, reached the Philippines, and was killed at the Battle of Mactan in 1521. His fleet completed the first circumnavigation of the Earth, a phoenix idea outliving the man.
