Helena Wong

Helena Wong Pik-wan, born on 21 March 1959, is a Hong Kong scholar, feminist and pro-democracy politician who spent decades bridging the worlds of faith, academia and public conscience. Trained in religion, government and political science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and UCLA, she lectured for twenty years at Hong Kong Polytechnic University while co-founding the Hong Kong Christian Institute and chairing the Women Christian Council. In the Legislative Council for Kowloon West from 2012, she became the voice that exposed the lead-tainted tap water of Kai Ching Estate, the scandal dubbed Hong Kong's water-gate, and in 2024 she was convicted of subversion over the pro-democracy primaries.
