Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh, born Nguyen Sinh Cung in Nghe An province in 1890, is one of history's great and controversial nation-founders, and his chart is built from the ground up on the earth of home and lineage. Both his Sun and Moon sit in Taurus, the pillar-sign, the Venusian bull that plants its feet and does not move; the Sun is the grounded will that holds an unshakeable foundation of values, while the Moon, exalted here at its most peaceful and devoted, gives a loyalty and patience that can outlast empires. Both luminaries fall in the fourth house, the deepest floor of the chart, the domain of home, mother and motherland. This is why his life reads as pure patriotism: the man who left Indochina in 1911, helped found the French and then the Vietnamese Communist Party, built the Viet Minh, and returned to lead the independence of a homeland he treated as sacred hearth. His Capricorn Ascendant gave the world the mask of the patient old soul, the crocodile who waits, "Uncle Ho," stoic and slow-earning his authority. His path involved long and costly wars whose human toll was immense. A chart describes temperament; it never settles the ledger of what a life's choices cost others.
