City of Los Angeles

The City of Los Angeles is the dream factory of the world, the sprawling Southern California metropolis where film, fame and reinvention were practically invented. Founded on 4 September 1781 under a Spanish governor on the Tongva village of Yaanga, it passed from Spain to Mexico to the United States, was incorporated in 1850 just before California's statehood, and boomed on oil, water piped in by aqueduct, and above all the movies. Today it is the second-largest city in America, a trillion-dollar economy, host of three Olympic Games, and home to one of the busiest ports and the largest film industry on Earth.

Its Sun sits in hard-working, perfectionist Virgo, the sign that shines through craft, skill and getting the job exactly right (fitting for a city of technicians, editors and endless takes), placed in the eleventh house of tribe and network, the born leader of a global crowd. Its Aries Moon is a bold, restless, pioneering heart, forever a doer and a survivor, and it lives in the fifth house of romance, children and creative self-expression: this is a city whose whole peace of mind is bound up in what it creates. A Scorpio ascendant lends the mask of glamour, shadow and constant rebirth.
