Mike Colter

Mike Colter is a study in quiet discipline, a man who shines by mastering his craft rather than chasing the spotlight, and that reads clean in his chart: both his Sun and his Moon sit in Virgo, a rare double dose of the sign of service, precision and useful excellence. His high school class voted him "most ambitious," and he earned that title the Virgoan way, one degree at a time: a theatre degree from the University of South Carolina, then an MFA from Rutgers. His first role was as a boxer in Million Dollar Baby, and he built steadily from there to become Luke Cage in the Marvel universe, the unbreakable, dutiful hero, and David Acosta, the seminarian weighing faith against reason in Evil.

With the Sun in Virgo he shines through hard work and mastery; with the Moon there too, his very peace of mind is fed by being useful, meticulous, reliable. It is a nature that is its own toughest critic, cool on the surface yet feeling deeply beneath. A second cousin to Viola Davis, married since 2002 with two daughters, he embodies the Virgo virtue at its best: excellence offered as a form of care.
