Horatio Nelson

Horatio Nelson was the sailor Britain turned into a legend, one of the greatest naval commanders the sea has ever known. Born into a modest Norfolk family in 1758, he went to sea young under an uncle's wing, held his own command by twenty, and rose through daring and brilliance in the wars against revolutionary and Napoleonic France. He lost the sight of one eye at Corsica and his right arm at Tenerife, yet won at the Nile, at Copenhagen, and finally at Trafalgar in 1805, where a French marksman's shot cut him down at the very hour of his greatest victory.

His Libra Sun shines through Venus's sign of the Scale, the strategist who weighed every option and found the balance others missed, aimed here at the eleventh house of tribe and command; the Sun that must lead its own fleet, never share a throne. His Virgo Moon fed his peace of mind through meticulous service and endless attention to detail, and on the throne of the tenth house it made his feeling for his men, and their feeling for him, wholly public. A Scorpio ascendant lent the phoenix mask: all or nothing, marching toward death and glory alike.
