Ryan Routh

Ryan Routh is an American man charged in connection with an attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump on 15 September 2024, when Secret Service agents fired on him as he lay concealed with a rifle in the shrubbery bordering the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. He fled and was arrested soon after, later facing federal firearms charges. His record before that day was already troubled: a 2002 armed standoff with police, further weapons and vehicle offences, a conviction for possessing stolen goods, and years of grandiose, unverified claims about recruiting foreign fighters for Ukraine, claims those organisations flatly denied.
