Sophia Loren

Some souls shine not by seeking the spotlight but by doing a job perfectly, and that is the quiet engine beneath Sophia Loren. Born on 20 September 1934, she carries a Virgo Sun, the vitality that expresses itself through craft, discipline and being of service. Sophia turned herself into a jack of all arts and a master of them too, an actress who wanted to be watched and assessed so she could be better. That Sun sits in her ninth house, the realm of horizons and global culture, which is why she became a true citizen of the world, the first performer to win a Best Actress Oscar for a non-English role, her Cesira in Two Women (1961) etched forever into cinema.

Her Moon in Aquarius gave her an emotional nature fused with humanity, detached yet devoted to the collective, the outsider's poise; in her second house it tied her sense of worth to what she built, brick by brick. Rising in Sagittarius, she met the world with an expansive, larger-than-life warmth, Jupiter's own glow. Seven David di Donatello awards and an honorary Oscar later, Sophia remains one of the last stars of that golden age, luminous and enduring.
