Toomaj Salehi

Toomaj Salehi is an Iranian hip hop artist who turned his voice into an act of defiance, and there is a Sagittarius Sun blazing at the heart of that courage. Sagittarius is the philosopher and the truth-teller, the Jupiter-ruled sign born to shine through big-picture wisdom and, above all, through extreme directness and honesty, the kind of blunt candour that will not soften a hard truth to keep the peace. That is the archetype of a man who, working his day job in a metalworking factory, wrote protest songs naming the injustices of the Islamic Republic without flinching. His Moon is in Gemini, the quick, verbal, endlessly clever luminary that finds its comfort in words: the perfect signature for a rapper whose weapon is language, whose lyrics about dancing with hair in the wind and the courage to criticise cut straight to the core. For that honesty he was arrested, tortured, imprisoned in Evin, and in April 2024 sentenced to death on a charge of "corruption on Earth", drawing sponsors and outcry from parliamentarians abroad. A Sagittarian truth carried on a Gemini tongue, his art became a stand for Women, Life, Freedom, and a testament to the cost of speaking plainly.
