Al Capone

Al Capone was one of the most notorious gangsters in American history, the boss of the Chicago Outfit during Prohibition. Born in New York in 1899 to Italian immigrants, he rose through the Five Points Gang and moved to Chicago, where he built a bootlegging empire through bribery and brutal violence. His name is tied forever to the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre of 1929, in which seven rival gang members were gunned down in broad daylight. He was eventually convicted not for murder but for tax evasion in 1931, served nearly eight years, and died in 1947, his mind ravaged by neurosyphilis.
