Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters built a career on the fine art of relating, of sitting across from another person and finding the truth in the space between them. Her Sun in Libra is the hero-self expressed through Venus's Scale: one who shines as the perfect facilitator, the fair mediator who sees two sides of every coin. That is the gift that made her the most trusted interviewer in America, questioning every sitting president and first lady from Nixon to Obama, along with figures as beloved and as controversial as Katharine Hepburn, Fidel Castro and Monica Lewinsky.

Her Libra Ascendant gave her the polished, symmetrical, likable mask that viewers welcomed into their homes across six decades, from Today and the ABC Evening News, where in the 1970s she became the first woman to co-anchor an American network news program, to 20/20 and The View. Her Sun sits in the twelfth house, that unknowable, psychic arena, which lent her a sponge-like intuition for reaching the hidden interior of her subjects. And her Moon in Gemini, seated in the ninth house, was the eternal news junkie's mind: talkative, curious, always on the move, forever fed by information and the wide horizons of the world.
