Billy Thornton

Billy Bob Thornton is a lion who never wanted the spotlight, and that tension runs right through his chart. His Sun sits in Leo, its own domicile, the born king of the castle blazing at full strength: the creative self-expression, the golden heart, the magnetism that made him a star. Born on 4 August 1955, he broke through by co-writing and starring in One False Move (1992), then wrote, directed and starred in Sling Blade (1996), winning an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Roles in Armageddon, Monster's Ball, Bad Santa, and later Fargo and Goliath followed, each carrying that Leo command of the screen. His Leo Ascendant doubles the regal presence, the performer everyone turns to look at when he enters a room.

Yet his Sun falls in the twelfth house, the unknowable, psychic arena where the ego dissolves and shuns the limelight, which explains his genuine distaste for celebrity culture and his instinct to keep himself hidden away. His Moon in Aquarius is the crazy-genius mind fused with the collective, the nonconformist and out-of-the-box artist, the singer-songwriter and Boxmasters frontman who beats to his own drum. That Moon sits in his seventh house of partnership, where the psyche lives inside one-on-one bonds, forever reading the person across from him, as his much-scrutinised marriage to Angelina Jolie made plain.
