Brooke Shields

There are two of everything in Brooke Shields, and that is the gift of the twins. Her Sun sits in Gemini, the sign of between, the marriage of Helios and Mercury, always two persons in one: the curious, versatile communicator who can hold many roles at once. And she has lived them all, from child model to the acclaim of Louis Malle's Pretty Baby at twelve, through The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love, into sitcom stardom on Suddenly Susan and later Law and Order and voice work in animation. Gemini shines through range and reinvention, and few careers have shape-shifted so gracefully. Remarkably her Moon also sits in Gemini, doubling that quick, talkative, mentally restless nature, an emotional life comforted by words, ideas and constant movement rather than by stillness.

Both luminaries fall in the ninth house of higher learning and global horizons, the hero's journey through philosophy and foreign worlds; fitting for a woman who suspended stardom in 1983 to earn a Romance languages degree from Princeton, choosing books over the spotlight. Her mind is fed by big questions and other cultures. Her Virgo Ascendant is the poised, clean, self-aware mask, the discerning maiden who serves through a sharp and careful intellect.
