Elvis Presley

The King of Rock and Roll carried the soul of an old-soul climber. Elvis Presley, born 8 January 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, had a Capricorn Sun: ambitious, disciplined, drawn always to the highest rung of the ladder, the boy from nothing who built an empire on relentless work. That Sun shone in his second house, the Lion King of resources, and money truly came to him; he became the rock, the provider, the best-selling solo artist of all time with over five hundred million records sold. From "Heartbreak Hotel" in 1956 to the global Aloha from Hawaii broadcast in 1973, he shone by earning his throne.

Yet beneath the swagger lived a Moon in Pisces, the ultimate empath, a psychic sponge tuned to the source. This gave Elvis his aching, saint-like emotional depth in gospel and ballad, and its shadow too, the escapism into substances that shortened his life. In his third house, that Moon poured raw feeling into voice and song that hit listeners at their core. Rising in Sagittarius, he met the world larger than life, jovial and magnetic. He died at Graceland in 1977, only forty-two, but his fire never dimmed.
