George Washington

George Washington carried a rare kind of stillness at the centre of a storm, and the chart tells you why. His Sun sits in Pisces, the oldest and most inward of the signs, the archetype that dissolves the self into something larger; and this Sun shines from the eighth house, the underworld of death, survival and rebirth. Here is a man forged as a phoenix, illuminating the darkest passages, leading the Continental Army through years when defeat felt certain and rising again after every ash. Water can look soft until you remember it wins wars by patience. His Moon in Capricorn tells of the child who grew up early, unspoiled and stoic, wearing duty like a second skin; that Moon in the sixth house bound his peace of mind to service, to the daily labour of holding others together. And a Leo Ascendant gave him the mask of the king, the presence that turned every room toward him, the torch-bearer who lit the path for those behind. Elected first president unanimously and twice over, he set the precedents and then, extraordinarily, walked away. A watery, disciplined, regal man who chose to relinquish power he could have kept.
