Reza Shah Pahlavi

Reza Shah Pahlavi rose from the Iranian Cossack Brigade, which he joined at fourteen, to the throne of Iran, founding the Pahlavi dynasty and shaping the modern Iranian state. A colonel by 1915, he marched on Tehran in 1921, seized the capital, dissolved the government, and by 1925 had himself installed as Shah after the constituent assembly deposed the last Qajar king. He drove sweeping reforms in law, education, and infrastructure, yet his rule was often despotic: he crushed dissent, and his forced Persianisation, detribalisation, and sedentarisation suppressed whole ethnic and social groups. His birth details are uncertain, and I offer the chart only as temperament, never as excuse for the harm he caused.
