2020 Saturn-Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn

On the twelfth of January 2020, Saturn and Pluto drew together at twenty-two degrees of Capricorn, an alignment so rare that only a handful have occurred since 5000 BCE, the last in this sign falling in 1518. The 2020 Saturn-Pluto conjunction was watched and dreaded in equal measure, for the meeting of Time's stern lord with the god of the underworld has always spoken of endings, of structures tested to breaking, of power laid bare. Within weeks the world met the pandemic that many had sensed coming.

Read the chart of that moment and its gravity makes sense. The Sun stood in Capricorn, that old-soul sign of institutions, authority and the long ladder, and in the eleventh house of the collective, the tribe, the whole of humankind. The Moon sat in Leo in the sixth house, the very house of health, service and daily labour, a proud heart placed among the sick and the caregiving. Pisces rose, the compassionate, dissolving mask of the mystic and the martyr. Together they mark a threshold: old certainties dismantled, the collective forced to reckon with mortality, and a hard, karmic invitation to rebuild from the ground up.
