D.H. Lawrence

D.H. Lawrence wrote as if instinct and vitality were sacred, and his chart holds that tension between the exacting craftsman and the volcanic depths beneath. Born in England in 1885, this novelist, poet and essayist gave modern literature Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love and Lady Chatterley's Lover, works so frank about sexuality that several met censorship trials, and he spent much of his life in what he called a savage pilgrimage of voluntary exile. His Sun in Virgo is the writer who shines through meticulous craft, service and the analytical mind, a jack of all arts and a true master of them, forever his own worst critic; placed in the eleventh house, that Sun is the lion-king exiled among the tribe, never quite a joiner, always founding his own movement of feeling rather than fitting another's club. His Moon in Libra is the beautiful Venusian psyche that longs for harmony and fairness, poured into the twelfth house of the collective unconscious, sacrifice and the unseen, which suits a man who took on the suffering and censure of a whole age. A Scorpio Ascendant lent the piercing, all-or-nothing mask of death and rebirth. Scorned in life, later crowned the greatest imaginative novelist of his generation.
