Penélope Cruz

Penélope Cruz meets the world as an Aries rising, wearing the Ram's warrior mask: the pioneer, the go-getter, born to be first. Signed by an agent at fifteen and on screen by sixteen, she walked out the front door with that Martian courage that most people lack, and the world made room. Her Sun shines in Taurus in the first house, the most uncensored place a star can occupy, where the expertise to shine is simply in being yourself. Here the earthy, sensual bull, the Venusian connoisseur of beauty and craft, meets the sun god's own house: she does not have to try too hard, because charisma oozes from her. This is the foundation of a career built patiently across genres and languages, from her early Spanish films to her long, luminous collaboration with Pedro Almodóvar, and the Academy Award for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, still the only such honour for a Spanish actress. Her Moon sits in Cancer in the fourth house, a double whammy Moon at the very bottom of the sky, the mother goddess at home. Deeply maternal, notoriously intuitive, rooted in family and homeland, it explains the mothers she keeps returning to on screen. She is beauty grounded in earth, feeling drawn from the deepest well of the chart.
