Carol Ng

Carol Ng Man-yee, born on 24 October 1970, is a Hong Kong trade unionist and political figure who turned a career as a flight attendant into a lifetime of standing between working people and power. She founded the British Airways Hong Kong Cabin Crew Union in 2003 to fight clawed-back wages, and after six long years won the battle that lifted the local retirement age from forty-five to sixty-five. As chairwoman of the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions she helped organise the great general strike of August 2019 and the airport sit-ins, before running in the 2020 pro-democracy primaries; on 6 January 2021 she was arrested under the national security law and has been held in custody since.

Her Sun shines in Scorpio, the Eagle, the phoenix of death and rebirth, power drawn from the mind rather than the fist: strategic, resilient, unblinking, the one who reads trouble coming from miles away and refuses to be underestimated. Her Moon rests in Leo, king and queen in one, a big open heart that feels through the stage and leads not by force but by warmth. Scorpio's depth and Leo's courage: a woman who made solidarity her art.
