Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain felt the raw ache of a generation and turned it into song, an old soul who shone by bleeding for everyone else. Born on 20 February 1967, he carried the Sun in Pisces, the twelfth and most sensitive archetype: the psychic sponge, the empath, the one who absorbs the suffering of the world and channels it into art. That solar light fell in the sixth house of work and craft, so his mysticism arrived through relentless labour and service, the dutiful songwriter who honed "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Come as You Are" and "Heart-Shaped Box" until they cut straight to the nerve. The Piscean shadow, escapism and blurred boundaries, was real too, and it haunted him. His Moon in Cancer, the moon goddess at her own home, made him almost unbearably tender and intuitive, his peace of mind fragile as the tides; and it sat in the tenth house, on the very throne of the chart, so those private oceanic feelings were lived out in full public view. He could not hide, and fame, which he never wanted as the voice of Generation X, wounded him. With Virgo rising, the self-critical maiden, he met the world doubting his own worth. He founded Nirvana in 1987 and reshaped alternative rock forever. He died in Seattle in April 1994, aged twenty-seven.
