Monica Bellucci

Monica Bellucci has always carried a beauty that reads as gravity rather than sweetness, and her chart explains the pull. Her Libra Sun gives her the eye of the Scale, the innate sense of symmetry, harmony and aesthetic balance that made her a natural before the camera; but it shines in the eighth house, the Scorpionic realm of transformation, secrets and the darker undertow, so she was drawn again and again to roles of intensity, danger and depth rather than to the merely pretty. She began as a model for Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier and Dior, then crossed into film: a bride of Dracula for Coppola, the aching heroine of Malena, the brutal cinema of Irreversible, Persephone in The Matrix, Mary Magdalene in The Passion of the Christ, and, at fifty, the oldest woman ever cast as a Bond companion. Capricorn rises as her mask, the composed, old-soul stillness, patient and self-possessed, ageing in reverse. Her Moon in Leo makes her a born performer, king and queen in one, a big dramatic heart, and set in the seventh house it lives through partnership and the reading of others. Balance on the surface, the underworld beneath: a woman who has always understood that real beauty carries shadow.
