Tom Hanks

There is a reason the whole world trusts Tom Hanks like a member of the family. His Sun sits in Cancer, the sign of the mother, the crab with its protective shell and its enormous, guarded heart. This is a soul here to shine as a nurturer, radiating warmth, empathy and unconditional decency, and it is placed at the very top of the chart in the tenth house, the Sun at noon, a rare blessing of visibility and public trust. He became famous not by dazzling us but by mothering us, playing the everyman whose goodness we could lean on.

Born on the ninth of July, 1956, he broke through in Splash and Big, then won two consecutive Best Actor Oscars for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. His Moon in Leo is the born actor's Moon, king and queen in one, feeling through performance and giving audiences goosebumps; nestled in the eleventh house of the tribe, it ties his emotional life to the wider community he serves.

A Virgo Ascendant supplied the modest, careful, detail-loving craftsman's mask. From Woody to Captain Phillips, Hanks remains cinema's most beloved shelter in the storm.
