Francis Ford Coppola

Francis Ford Coppola is a pioneer among pioneers, and his chart carries the signature of the trailblazer. His Sun shines in Aries, the sign of the warrior and the self-starter, a Mars-charged, exalted placement Gaia calls a double leader, one who casts light and leaves a lasting mark wherever he goes and who climbs back on the saddle no matter what the universe throws. You can trace that Aries courage through his whole career: a central figure of New Hollywood, he won the Oscar for co-writing Patton, then revolutionised the gangster film with The Godfather and its sequel, and marched into the notoriously punishing production of Apocalypse Now, twice claiming the Palme d'Or. Five Academy Awards in all. That Aries Sun sits in his third house of craft and self-effort, the anti-lazy maker who shines through doing, through his hands and his relentless output. His Moon in Scorpio is the emotional volcano, the phoenix that dies and is reborn, all-or-nothing intensity that reads people to their depths, and placed in his tenth house, the throne of the chart, it means those deep feelings were lived out for the whole world to see, in Oscar-winning scenes that truly feel. Rising in Capricorn, he wears the mask of the old-soul boss, patient and enduring, now a Napa vintner and patriarch of a filmmaking dynasty.
